1. Introduction

Welcome to indiancalorie.com ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

  • Name and email address (when you create an account)
  • Profile information (age, gender, height, weight - optional)
  • Health goals and dietary preferences
  • Food logs and meal data you choose to enter

2.2 Device Permissions & Sensor Data

With your explicit permission, our mobile app may access:

  • Camera: To scan and photograph food for AI-powered calorie estimation. Photos are sent to our server for analysis and are not stored permanently unless you save them to your food log.
  • Photo Library: To select existing food images for scanning and to save scanned food photos if you choose.
  • Microphone: For voice-based food logging (paid feature). Audio is recorded locally on your device, sent to our transcription service for processing, and immediately discarded after transcription. We do not store raw audio recordings.
  • Location: To provide accurate prayer times (Suhoor/Iftar) and fasting reminders based on your geographic area. Your coordinates are shared only with service providers as needed to provide this feature (Aladhan for prayer time calculations, Nominatim for city name resolution). Location data is not stored in our database.
  • Push Notifications: To send prayer time reminders, fasting alerts, and meal reminders (with your consent).

Each permission is requested only when the relevant feature is used. You can revoke any permission at any time via your device's Settings app.
