Why This Dish is Healthy
This dish is a healthy choice because it uses boiled chickpeas, which are high in protein and fiber, supporting satiety and weight management. Low-fat yoghurt adds calcium and protein without excess calories. The use of fresh, raw vegetables ensures maximum micronutrient retention. Minimal oil and natural spices make it suitable for calorie-conscious individuals, diabetics, and those seeking heart-healthy Indian snacks.
Indian Chickpea Chaat with Yoghurt is rich in plant-based protein from chana, making it a filling snack. The addition of dahi provides probiotics for gut health. Fresh veggies supply fiber, vitamins A and C, and minerals like potassium and magnesium. Roasted cumin aids digestion, while pomegranate seeds add antioxidants. Low-fat yoghurt keeps the dish light in calories and fat. This chaat is naturally gluten-free (without chutney containing atta), suitable for vegetarian diets, and can be adapted for vegan diets by replacing dahi with plant-based yoghurt.
