How to Make Drumstick and Potato Curry (Traditional & Healthy Version)
Drumstick and Potato Curry, known as 'Sahjan aur Aloo ki Sabzi' in Hindi, is a beloved South Indian vegetarian dish that brings the earthy flavors of drumsticks (moringa) and the comforting texture of potatoes together in a mildly spiced coconut-based gravy. Popular across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, this curry is a staple during everyday lunches and is often enjoyed with steamed rice or phulka. The curry’s unique blend of drumstick’s subtle bitterness and potato’s starchy softness creates a wholesome, satisfying meal that is both light and nourishing. Traditionally, this dish is prepared in many South Indian households, especially during festivals like Pongal and Ugadi, where fresh, seasonal vegetables are celebrated. The addition of curry leaves, mustard seeds, and coconut gives the curry its signature aroma, while the simple spices keep it light, making it a perfect fit for those tracking calories.
