How to Make Chach (Traditional & Healthy Version)
Chach, also known as chaas, is a refreshing Indian buttermilk drink that has been cherished for centuries across regions like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Maharashtra. Traditionally served during hot afternoons, Chach is made by whisking dahi (curd) with water and adding aromatic spices. This probiotic-rich beverage is not only a staple at Indian lunch tables but also a symbol of hospitality, often offered to guests as a welcome drink. The cool, tangy taste and digestive benefits make it an essential part of summer meals and festive thalis. Chach is deeply rooted in Indian culinary culture and is especially popular during festivals like Holi and Diwali, where it helps balance rich, spicy foods. Every region has its own twist: Gujarati chach is subtly spiced, while North Indian versions may include fresh herbs like pudina (mint) and dhania (coriander). Light, hydrating, and low in calories, Chach is a perfect match for the Indian climate and is a beloved vegetarian beverage enjoyed by all age groups.
