How to Make Walnut Ladoo (Traditional & Healthy Version)
Walnut Ladoo is a delightful Indian mithai that beautifully combines the rich, earthy flavor of akhrot (walnuts) with just the right touch of sweetness. Traditionally enjoyed during festivals like Diwali and Holi, these ladoos are a symbol of celebration and togetherness across Indian households. Crafted with minimal ingredients, Walnut Ladoo stands out not only for its taste but for its nutritional punch, making it a popular choice among health-conscious families. The naturally sweet, nutty flavor is complemented by aromatic cardamom and the subtle richness of khajur (dates), making each bite both indulgent and wholesome. In Indian cuisine, nuts like walnuts and almonds have always been celebrated for their nourishing properties. Walnut Ladoo is a modern twist on classic ladoos, blending the goodness of akhrot with natural sweeteners. This makes it an excellent dessert for those seeking a guilt-free treat. The ladoos are easy to prepare, require no elaborate cooking techniques, and are perfect for quick energy during festivals or as a healthy snack. The soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture and the crunch from coarsely ground walnuts make these ladoos truly irresistible. They are a thoughtful choice for prasad during puja, or as a post-meal dessert for the family.

Dry roast the walnuts and almonds on low flame in a thick-bottomed kadhai for 3-4 minutes until they release aroma. Let them cool, then pulse in a mixer to a coarse texture.

In the same kadhai, add 1 tbsp ghee and sauté the chopped dates for 2-3 minutes until soft and mushy.
3 minutes
Use soft, fresh dates for easier blending and natural sweetness.
- 3
Add the ground walnut-almond mixture to the softened dates. Mix well on low flame.
3 minutes
Keep stirring to avoid sticking at the bottom.
- 4
Sprinkle in desiccated coconut and cardamom powder. Mix thoroughly until everything is combined and forms a sticky mass.
2 minutes
Coconut helps bind the mixture and adds aroma.
