- 1 tsp Cumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder (haldi)
- 1 tsp Coriander powder (dhania powder)
- 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder (lal mirch) - optional
- to taste Salt (namak)
- 2 tbsp, chopped Fresh coriander leaves (hara dhania) - optional
- 1 tbsp Oil (preferably mustard or sunflower)

Boil the potatoes (aloo) in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles or until soft. Cool, peel, and roughly mash them.
