Prep: 15 min
2 servings
Easy

Watermelon Popsicle, known in many Indian homes as 'tarbooz ka baraf', is a refreshing frozen treat enjoyed across the country, especially during the hot summer months. Watermelon, or tarbooz, is a widely loved fruit in India, revered for its hydrating properties and sweet, juicy flavor. These popsicles are a healthier alternative to sugar-laden ice creams and are often made at home during school vacations or as a cooling snack after playtime. The vibrant red color of watermelon and its natural sweetness make these popsicles a hit among children and adults alike. This traditional Indian popsicle requires just a few simple ingredients, making it accessible for all. It is often prepared in advance and enjoyed as a post-lunch dessert or as a special treat during festivals like Holi, when cooling snacks are in great demand. The addition of kala namak (black salt) and a hint of chaat masala lends an unmistakably Indian twist, creating a balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. By avoiding artificial colors and refined sugars, this healthy version supports conscious eating habits and fits perfectly into a calorie-tracking lifestyle.
