How to Make Nutri Bar Classic (Traditional & Healthy Version)
Nutri Bar Classic is a wholesome, power-packed beverage that takes inspiration from the traditional Indian concept of 'sattu sharbat' and energy bars, bringing together the goodness of Indian millets, dry fruits, and seeds in a convenient drink form. This beverage is designed for health-conscious individuals who want a quick, nutritious, and delicious start to their day, especially during the fast-paced mornings. Packed with fiber, protein, and natural sweeteners like khajur (dates) and shahad (honey), this Nutri Bar Classic evokes the spirit of Indian snacking, often enjoyed during festivals like Makar Sankranti and Navratri when energy-rich foods are celebrated. The Nutri Bar Classic is not just a beverage but a bridge between tradition and modern nutrition, ideal for anyone looking to fuel their body while staying connected to Indian flavors. The blend of roasted oats, ragi (nachni), peanuts (moongphali), and seeds creates a nutty, slightly sweet taste, while spices like dalchini (cinnamon) and elaichi (cardamom) add warmth and depth. Perfect for breakfast or as a mid-day meal replacement, this drink is a testament to India's evolving health food culture.
Ingredients(for 1 glass (approx. 250 ml))
- 1/2 cup Rolled oats (jaee)
- 1/4 cup Ragi flour (nachni atta)
- 2 tbsp Peanuts (moongphali, roasted and unsalted)
- 2 tbsp Mixed seeds (flax (alsi), sunflower, chia)
- 10 Almonds (badam, roughly chopped)
- 4 Dates (khajur, deseeded)
- 2 tsp Honey (shahad, or use jaggery (gur))
- 2 cups Low-fat milk (doodh, or almond milk for vegan)
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder (dalchini)
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder (elaichi)
Instructions
- 1
Dry roast the rolled oats, ragi flour, and peanuts on a tawa over a low flame until aromatic, about 5 minutes. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
5 minutes
Roasting enhances the nutty flavor and improves digestibility.
- 2
Allow the roasted mixture to cool, then transfer to a mixer jar. Add mixed seeds and almonds, and grind to a coarse powder.
3 minutes
A coarse grind retains texture and boosts satiety.
- 3
Add deseeded dates, cinnamon powder, and cardamom powder to the mixer. Grind again until the dates are well blended.
2 minutes
Dates provide natural sweetness and bind the mixture.
- 4
Pour the low-fat milk into a saucepan. Warm it gently (do not boil). Add the ground nutri mixture and whisk to combine.
5 minutes
Warming the milk helps dissolve the mix thoroughly.
