How to Make Egg Toast Sandwich (Traditional & Healthy Version)
Egg Toast Sandwich, fondly called 'Anda Toast Sandwich', is a beloved Indian breakfast staple that brings together the warmth of spiced eggs and the crispness of toasted bread. Originating as a quick street-side snack, this dish has found its place in Indian homes, especially during busy mornings. The blend of wholesome eggs, fresh vegetables, and Indian masalas makes it both comforting and nutritious. In India, bread and eggs are commonly enjoyed for breakfast due to their ease of preparation and high satiety value. The Egg Toast Sandwich is often served with a side of tangy green chutney or a sprinkle of chaat masala, adding a burst of flavor reminiscent of Indian street food. Its adaptability allows for regional variations—some add a hint of cheese, while others prefer a sprinkle of coriander (dhaniya) or green chilies for extra zing. This recipe is designed to be health-conscious, using whole wheat atta bread and minimal oil, making it perfect for those tracking calories or aiming for a balanced start to the day.

- 1, finely chopped Green chili (hari mirch) - optional
- 2 tbsp, chopped Coriander leaves (dhaniya)
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper powder (kali mirch)
- to taste Salt (namak)
- 1/4 tsp Red chili powder (lal mirch) - optional
- 2 tbsp Low-fat milk (doodh) - optional
- 1 tsp Ghee or vegetable oil (for toasting)
Instructions
- 1
In a mixing bowl, crack open the eggs. Add chopped onion, tomato, green chili, coriander leaves, black pepper, salt, and red chili powder. Whisk together until well combined. Add milk for a fluffier texture.
5 minutes
Use a fork or whisk for better aeration.
- 2
Heat a tawa (griddle) on medium flame. Add a few drops of ghee or oil. Pour half the egg mixture and spread it gently to form a thick omelette.
5 minutes
Cook on low flame for softer eggs.
- 3
Place two slices of whole wheat bread directly on top of the semi-cooked egg. Lightly press them so the bread sticks to the egg mixture.
2 minutes
Press gently to avoid breaking the omelette.
- 4
Carefully flip the bread and egg together, so the bread toasts on the tawa while the egg cooks through. Toast until golden and crisp.
4 minutes
Use a wide spatula for easy flipping.
